PROJECT AND ADMINISTRATIVE ASSISTANT
 
GIRLS ACTION FOUNDATION is currently seeking to hire an energetic and talented individual to join their team. Under the direction of the Executive Director, this individual will be responsible for assisting the staff in the day-to-day administration of the organization, and specific projects.

Founded in 1995, the GIRLS ACTION FOUNDATION is a national charitable organization that inspires and supports the empowerment, leadership and healthy development of girls and young women across Canada. Through its innovative programs, research and support to a network of over 200 partnering organizations and projects, the GIRLS ACTION FOUNDATION reaches over 70,000 girls and young women annually–providing opportunities to build their strength, discover their power and gain the confidence they need to bring their gifts to the world.

What does GIRLS ACTION FOUNDATION do?

In Montreal, the Girls Action Foundation provides programs to girls and young women in collaboration with schools and community organizations. Our programs create safe, inclusive spaces where girls engage in popular education workshops, discussions, games and creative activities

In addition to working directly with girls and young women, Girls Action Foundation coordinates a network of about 150 community organizations across Canada that deliver innovative violence prevention and empowerment programs to girls aged 9 to 18. To serve our network Girls Action organizes skill-building forums, girls’ program trainings, coordinates a national Day of Action and creates regional partnerships with grassroots organizations.

Major Responsibilities:   

  • Assist Executive Director with administrative tasks
  • Financial Administration: processing expense claims, invoices and regular banking
  • Office coordination; ordering office supplies and technical support, etc.
  • Provide administrative and logistical support for Board of Director’s meetings, other meetings and events as needed
  • Assist staff members with project implementation; communication with members and program participants.
  • First point of contact with the public; answering, transferring and follow-up of phone calls, e-mails and request for information.
  • Data entry and database maintenance
  • Filing, mailing and photocopying
  • Coordinating Executive Director’s agenda and providing appropriate support for her workflow


Desired skills and qualities

  • Experience as an administrative or project assistant
  • Strong written and verbal skills in both French and English
  • Excellent interpersonal and communications skills
  • Well-organized and detail-oriented with excellent follow-through
  • Ability to work both autonomously and in a team; strong ability to contribute to the development of a young and innovative organization
  • Ability to work in a loosely structured environment, highly motivated, creative and energetic
  • Works well under pressure, punctual
  • Tech savvy;  experience working with Microsoft office suite

 
Start Date: August 23rd 2010

Hours:  32 hours a week
