Resources To Educate Teens About Sexuality And Sexual Health

Vancouver Coastal Health is proud to offer teachers, school counselors, youth workers, and community health nurses this resource to support healthy adolescent development in our communities. The resource was developed in collaboration with high school students during the Parkgate Youth Sexual Health Project.

As teens move through their adolescence, romantic relationships become increasingly important. Adolescence is an important time to help teens develop healthy relationship skills. This module provides a foundation for understanding what healthy relationships look like.

Our intention in creating this resource is to share the energy and practical resources that came out of the Northern Light Project. At the same time, this publication is a celebration of what girls and women are doing in their communities. The Wire is a space for young feminists – especially young women – working on women’s rights and gender equality around the world to connect, learn and share information. It is also a place where women’s rights advocates of all ages can learn more about young women’s activism and make connections with younger activists.

In 1999, lesbians were identified as an underserved minority by the Institute of Medicine. Some health issues for lesbians are different from those of heterosexual women, and clinicians need to be aware of these differences in order to provide culturally-appropriate care, since at least 5% of their female patients are lesbian.

This website page is a  special collection and it's purpose is to provide resources and an introduction to reproductive justice, focusing particularly on the connections between the elimination of reproductive oppression and domestic and sexual violence.

Girls Action compiled these ressources in preparation for our Northern Light program, that took place the summer of 2008, in Whithorse Yukon. In the resource compilation you will find lists of community organizations, health centres, information and crisis lines, women’s shelters, youth groups, etc. They are organized by region.
